08-11-2017- WEDNESDAY
Our first day in Mukhathala
Gramodharana Trust High School for the
second phase of teaching practice. So we reached there at 9.15. Then we met the
Principal Mrs. Prathibha Kumari and our concerned English teacher Mrs. Vidya
S.S and they allotted the class sections and time table for us. I got 8B class
and a time table of 7 classes /week. The school welcomed us with a
special assembly in the morning. A Magic show for raising funds for the liver patients
was the main attraction of the assembly. The students and teachers contributed
to raise the funds. The second mid-term exam was going on and I was assigned
the exam duty on the second period at 8B. Both morning and evening sessions had
exams, so, didn’t get opportunity to take class. At 4’o clock the school time
ended.
09-11-2017- THURSDAY
It was the second day of our school
internship at M.G.T.H.S Mukhathala. I reached the school on time at 9.20a.m The
mid-term exam was going on and therefore no regular class was there but the
exam duty was assigned for me. In the morning session i went to 8C as the
part of exam duty and was vigilant that all students wrote the exam with strict
discipline. Then in the evening session , the exam duty was assigned to me at
10A. The students were very hesitant to maintain discipline and it was a hectic
task to observe those students in the exam hall. That day ended with National
Anthem at 4p.m.
10-11-2017- FRIDAY
It was the third day of our school
internship but we were not able to start any lessons till now due to the mid-term
examinations and I am bit tensed about
it. I reached school on 9.15 a.m. Today
also there is no regular class but it was happy to know that the mid-exam will
end today and I was excited to teach my beloved students of standard 8.B. Today also I was assigned with exam duty,
both in the morning and evening sessions. Like yesterday I was assigned 8C for
exam duty in the morning session and 10A
in the evening session. The school was
dispersed at four in the evening.
13-11-2017- MONDAY
Today I reached the school as usual
at 9.20a.m. I have a period today in 8B. So I had my final preparations in the first period and I went to 8B in the second period. After
spending some time with pupils in a friendly chat, I entered into my class
section. I taught them a poem, Song of Flower
by Khalil Gibran. Throughout the
class I tried to inculcate the values in pupils and made them aware about the
importance of nature. In the third period, the literary competitions were held .In the fourth period, I went to 9.D for
observing the biology class of Mrs. Saranya S. She taught the topic, ‘Breathing
Movements’ from the unit ‘To release
Energy’. I observed that the class was
effective but the use of teaching aids would have been better.
14-11-2017 - TUESDAY
Today I reached the school at 9.25
a.m. The day started with a special
morning assembly. The assembly observed ‘Children’s Day’ and refreshed the
memories of Pt. Jawaharlal Nehru and his contributions to our nation through
various activities in the assembly. The literary club conducted a quiz
programme about Jawaharlal Nehru and distributed prizes for those who answered
correctly at the assembly itself. As usual I had period second period at 8.B
and today I taught the second part of the poem, “Song of The flower” by Khalil
Gibran with the help of ICT. The Class was more effective and the use of ICT
helped in grabbing student’s attention. Then in the third period I went to 8.C
to observe the English class by Miss Pooja S.S. She taught the third and fourth
stanzas of the poem, ‘Song of the Flower’using ICT. I observed that there is a
need to improve the class management. Then in the afternoon session, I got a
period as substitution in 8.B and I used that opportunity to complete the
fourth and fifth stanzas of the poem, “Song of the Flower”.
15-11-2017 – WEDNESDAY
Today was the sixth day of school internship and I
reached the school on time. In the morning session I went to 8.B on the second
period as per the regular timetable and taught the last two stanzas of the
poem, Song of the Flower. The students’ response was beyond my imagination. I
think the powerpoint presentation helped in gaining students’ support and
interest in learning process. Then in the third period i went to 9.D to observe
the chemistry class of Miss Rincy Raj. She taught the topic, ‘Acids and
Alkalies’ from the chapter ‘Acids,Alkalies and Salts.’ The application of
learning aids would have been better but the activities provided were good.
Then in the afternoon session i went to 9.D for the peer observation in the
Social Science class of Mr.Ganesh . He taught the topic, ‘Constituencies and
reserved constituencies’ from the unit, ‘Election and Democracy’.
16-11-2017 – THURSDAY
Today I reached the school at 9.15a.m. There was
morning assembly. The Physical trainer, Mr. Siva Ganesh instructed some warm up
exercise to the students. Today, as
usual I went to 8.B in the second period and I taught a new poem, ‘First Showers’ written by Nalini Sharma. The poem describes
about the sensuousness of the rain. And
I tried my level best to make them understand about the theme and devices like
simile and metaphor used in the poem.
And in the third period I went to 8.C to observe the English class of Miss
Pooja S.S. She taught a new poem, First showers. I observed that effective use
of ICT helped her to convey the theme
easily to students. In the afternoon
session, as per the instruction of Headmistress, we conducted a Quiz
competition based on Election Commission.
Today I reached the school at 9.30
a.m. and as usual I went to 8.B for my regular class. I taught the last 8 lines
of the poem, First Showers. The identification of rhyming words were taught
with due importance. In the fourth
period, I went to 9.D to observe the Social Science class of Mr.Ganesh R. He
taught the topic, ‘Responsibilities of Election Commission’ from the unit,
‘Election and Democracy’. I observed that the activities provided by the
teacher lacked student involvement.
20-11-2017 – MONDAY
Today I reached the school at 9.25
a.m. Today’s morning assembly was
conducted by the students of 10.A . In
the assembly, Headmistress warned students to keep discipline inside the
classroom and school premises. Then as the part of Universal Childrens’ Day,
10A students conducted a quiz programme in the assembly and presented gifts to
those who answered the questions correctly. In the second period, I went
to 8.B
and after a small chat with pupils, I entered into the new lesson, ‘A
Day in the Country’ written by Anton
Chekhov. I used powerpoint presentation for the introduction and group activity.
21-11-2017 – TUESDAY
Today is the tenth day of our
school internship and I reached the school on time. In the first period, I
discussed with Miss Pooja S.S about the topic and implementation of conscientization
programme and we choose ‘Water Scarcity’ as our subject.Then we decided to ask the concern of the
headmistress for conducting this programme. The Headmistress was very
supportive and allotted us the 5th and 6th period of Thursday for conducting the programme. And
in the second period, as usual I went to 8.B and taught the four paragraphs of
the story, A Day in the Country. I used flash cards and charts as teaching aids
in the classroom. And in the afternoon session, we invited all teaching and
non-teaching staffs for the conscientization programme on November 23,2017 at
VIII.B. Then in seventh period, I got the class 8.B as substitution period and
I utilized that period by teaching the next four paragraphs of the story, A Day
in the Country.
22-11-2017 - WEDNESDAY
Today I reached the school at 9.30a.m. In the morning itself HM informed me to take substitution class at 8.B in the fourth period as the Hindi teacher was absent. So I got two periods in 8.B. Both the were ICT classes. The powerpoint and video presentations were involved.In the afternoon session, I went to observe the English class by Miss Pooja S.S. She taught a story, The Nightingale and the Rose. The use of teaching-learning aids were limited and the classroom management has to be improved. Then in the last hour, me with Pooja planned about the execution of the conscientization programme.
23-11-2017 – THURSDAY
Today I reached the school at
9.15a.m. and that day started with an assembly. The morning assembly, as usual consisted
of prayer, thought for the day, and some aerobic exercises. In the second
period, I went to class 8.B and taught the rest of the story, A Day in the Country. In the group activity
section, I implemented a debate and I observed that it was a new learning
experience for the pupils. And in the afternoon session, Miss Pooja S.S and myself conducted a
Conscientization Programme in 8.B on the topic, “Water Scarcity”.
CONSCIENTIZATION REPORT
As part of
our B.Ed curriculum we decided to conduct a conscientization programme, during
our school internship. Miss Pooja S.S from English option accompanied me in
conducting this programme. We conducted an awareness programme about
"Water Scarcity" in
class 8.B.
The programme was started at 1.30p.m Our HM
gave warm wishes to us for conducting
such a programme and inaugurated the programme. Teacher congratulated us for
presenting such a socially relevant subject for the Conscientization programme.
The students were excited and anxious to participate in this programme.
I took the introductory part and presented the
title to the students. I started the class by introducing the quote by famous
environmental activist, William Ashworth : “ Children of a culture born in
water rich environment, we have never really learned how water is to us. We
understand it, but we do not respect” Then I explained the term, Water Scarcity
and how important is water conservation by showing a video clip. The students
were attentive and found interested in the class.
Then, my companion, Miss Pooja S.S presented the cause, effects and
remedial measures for water scarcity. Global Warming, Pollution, overuse of
water, drought and destruction of water resources resulted in the water scarcity.
Lack of access to fresh water, diminishing of
agricultural yields, health and hygiene issues and ecological imbalance are the
main effects of Water Scarcity. She
presented posters and charts promoting awareness on the need of water conservation.
The students are active and Pooja’s interaction was informative to students.
After that we had an interactive session with
students. We elicit student’s response to the topic and asked them to give
familiar causes, effects, and solutions for the issue. The class found
effective and at last, they took a pledge that they won’t waste water and will
save water for future. The conscientization programme ended at 2.30p.m.
24-11-2017 – FRIDAY
Today I reached school at 9.30 a.m.
In the second period, I had one period at 8.B. I went there and took the last
three paragraphs of the story, A Day in the Country. After finishing that
chapter, i collected students’ feedback. They responded positively in the
feedback. And I hope they understood the
theme put forwarded in the story. And in the seventh period, I went to 8.B and
implemented the role play model in the class. The students enacted the role of
Uncle Terenty, Fyokla and Danilka with enthusiasm. It was a wonderful teaching
experience for me and new learning experience for the students.
27-11-2017 – MONDAY
Today I reached the school at
9.25a.m. The day started with the morning assembly. In the assembly, HM informed that there will
be an awareness drama by Kollam City
Police at 3p.m. The assembly was
dispersed very soon after the warm-up exercises. In the second period, I went
to 8.B and started a new Chapter. It was
a short story, The Nightingale and the Rose written by Oscar Wilde. I used
powerpoint presentation as a teaching aid. It was effective and it helped
students to understand the theme of the story more easily. Then in the
fourth period, i went to 9.A for substitution. In the afternoon session, the Kollam City Police arrived for the
presentation of the drama, ‘Autobiography of a
Drunkard’. The drama was
informative and had moral values in it. It also delivered a good message to
students and warned them about the harmful effects of drugs and alcohol. The Kollam
City Police team also ensured the participation of students from our school in
the drama. After the drama, the headmistress thanked Kollam City Police for
such an effort. And we left the school after 4.15p.m.
28-11-2017 – TUESDAY
Today I reached the school at 10a.m due to some personal issues and I informed HM about it and took her permission before the school time. Then in the second period, I went to 8.B and taught the continuation of the story, The Nightingale and the Rose. The Students were anxious to learn the story. In the entry activity, I shower them a picture card and I observed that it helped to grab students’ attention to the chapter content. Then in the afternoon session, I had a period in 8.B and I utilised that period to take some paragraphs of the story and gave them some language activities. The school time ended usually at 4p.m after the National Anthem.
29-11-2017- WEDNESDAY
Today I reached the school at
9.25a.m. And in the first period itself I collected the activity books from 8.B
and examined it. I observed that students are weak in the spelling and
vocabulary. Then in the second period , I went to 8.B for my regular class and
our optional teacher Mrs.. Saufi has arrived
there to observe my class. I
taught the 7-10 paragraphs of the story, The Nightingale and the Rose. I used flash cards and charts in the
classroom. The teacher observed and asked me to make some correction in the
teaching process. Then in the third period, I went to 8.C to observe the class
of Miss Pooja S.S. She taught the last portions from the story, Nightingale and
the Rose. Her classroom management was good, activities provided were
impressive and learner involvement was also notable.
04-12-2017 – MONDAY
Today I reached the school on time and the day
started with the morning assembly conducted by
9.A. The assembly extended the school’s condolences to the victims of
Okhi Cyclone. And today I have two continuous periods in 8.B. I taught the
story, The Nightingale and the Rose from the unit, Flowers and Showers. In the
second period, they were taught to design posters and the students performed
well in the activity session. I used powerpoint presention in the class. In the
third period , they were taught pronouns and types of pronouns. The students were active and highly interactive
in the class. In the afternoon session, HM assigned me and Miss Pooja to
collect the list of students who didn’t
took the Measles-Rubella vaccine. We went to all the classes and took the
necessary details.
05-12-2017 - TUESDAY
Today I reached the school on time and
in the morning itself HM assigned the duty to distribute iron tablets in all
the classes. After doing the assigned
duty, I went to 8.B for my regular class. I taught some important paragraphs
from the story, the Nightingale and the Rose. I used Flash cards and charts in
the classroom. Special attention was given to the settings in the story. The
students identified the different settings of the stories and presented it
before the class. In the seventh period, i went to standard 8.C to observe the
class by Mrs. Saranya S. She taught the topic, ‘Bio-diversity’ from the unit,
‘Diversities for existence’. Her introduction to the topic was impressive and
the classroom management was good but the activities provided was not so
effective to gain students’ involvement.
06-12-2017 - WEDNESDAY
Today I reached the school at
9.30a.m. Then in the second period, I went to 8.B for my regular class. I
taught the paragraphs 19 and 20 from the story, The Nightingale and the Rose.
They performed well in the activity session and the student involvement was
good throughout the class.
07-12-2017- THURSDAY
Today I reached the school at
9.30a.m. I had two periods today. In the morning session, I went to 8.B and
taught the next three paragraphs of the story, The Nightingale and the Rose. I
used powerpoint presentation to introduce the topic and profile writing was
given as the group activity. Students performed well in the group activity and
I motivated them for their efforts. Then in the eighth period ii continued to
teach the remaining paragraphs of the
story and used powerpoint presentation effectively in the classroom. Students’
feedback was satisfactory and I observed that ICT classrooms are more effective and student friendly.
08-12-2017- FRIDAY
Today I reached the school at
9.20a.m. I had two periods for today. In
the first period, I went to 8.B and taught them the paragraphs 27-30 from the
story, the Nightingale and the Rose. The Students were excited when I taught about the
significant and emotional events of the story. More importance was given to the
vocabulary section and students managed to perform well in the group activity.
In the sixth period, I went to 8.B and rest the last three paragraphs of thee
story. The student interaction was remarkable. The students responded well to
all questions. In this section, more importance was given to the character
traits and the symbolism used here.
Before the class ending, I asked students to get prepared for the test
paper of the unit
11-12-2017 – MONDAY
Today I reached the school at
9.30a.m and in the first hour I involved in the preparation and planning of my
innovative lesson template. In the second period, I went to 8.B and implemented the Innovative Lesson
Temlate of the chapter, The Nightingale and the Rose. It was a
wonderful experience. The students’ response was awesome.Then in the
afternoon session, I conducted the Achievement Test for 8.B regarding the
Unit 4, Flowers and Showers.

12-12-2017 - TUESDAY
Today I reached the
school at 9.35 a.m. In the second period, I conducted a Diagnostic Test for the
students of standard 8.B based on the chapter, The Nightingale and the Rose.
Mr.Ganesh sir helped me in conducting this exam. There was no time limit but
all the students submitted their answer sheet within 30 minutes. Then in the
afternoon session, I went to 9.D for the class observation of Mr.Ganesh. We
left the school temporarily for our third semester examination.
01-01-2018 - MONDAY
Today I reached the school at 9.30
a.m. The happiness of new year was reflected in all the pupils’ faces. We
exchanged our new year wishes with each other. In the second period, I went to
standard 8.B for the remedial teaching of the diagnostic test conducted. By
analysing the diagnostic test, I observed the areas of difficulty mainly in the
spelling and grammar section and I hope the remedial teaching was effective.
03-01-2018 - WEDNESDAY
Today I reached the school at 9.35. and met the English teacher, Mrs.
Vidhya. She asked me to finish the poem, The Grandmother’s House before leaving
the school. I agreed to finish the poem as at the earliest. Then in the second
period, I went to standard 8.B and implemented the concept attainment model on
the topic, “Phrasal Verbs”. I took the class with the use of charts. The
students’ involvement was good in the Presentation of data and Identification
of the Concept. In the Testing the
Attainment of the Concept section, I incorporated the activity part of the
lesson, The Nightingale and the Rose. The student feedback was satisfactory
04-01-2018 – THURSDAY
Today,
as usual I reached the school before 9.30a.m. in the second period, I went to
standard 8.B and taught Direct and Indirect Speech by using the Advance
Organiser Model. I used charts and question cards as teaching aids. I provided
some exercises to convert the sentences and the students performed well in the
activity. The wide grammar portion was taught more easily with the help of
Advance Organiser Model snd it was proved very effective.
05-01-2018- FRIDAY
Today
I reached the school at 9.35 a.m. I had
one period at 8.B in the morning session
and I went there and taught a new poem, ‘My Grandmother’s House’ written by
Kamala Surayya. I gave a detailed description of the famous poetess, Kamala
Surayya and her popular works. I gave more importance to the poetic devices like
personification and simile during the class. The students actively participated
in the activity. In the third period, I went to 8.C for observing the English
class of Miss Pooja S.S. I observed that her class improved a lot. Her teaching
aids were innovative and the student involvement was good and they enjoyed the
class a lot. Then in the afternoon
session, I had a substitution period in the standard 10.A.
06-01-2018- SATURDAY
Today
I reached the school at 9.20a.m. In the morning session we taught some
yoga lessons to the pupil. I gave some
warm up exercises and taught them about Trikonasana. This physical posture
helps to relieve stress, improves digestion, strengthens the thighs , knees and
ankles. The students were active and enthusiastic to perform those postures.
08-01-2018 – MONDAY
Today
I reached the school at 9.30 a.m. In the second period, I went to 8.B as per
the regular timetable and taught the last part of the poem, ‘My Grandmother’s
House’ using the powerpoint presentation.
The appreciation of the poem and visual images in the poem were
explained easily with the help of powerpoint slides. The students’ response was
good and satisfactory.
09-01-2018 – TUESDAY
Today
was the last day of our school internship. These thirty days were filled with
new experiences and lessons in life. These days taught me to learn from
mistakes and improve with hardwork. As a
teacher trainee, these days helped me to understand my limitations in the
process of teaching. Each and every experiences I faced during my school
internship helped in developing my personality and in increasing my confidence
level.
Today
in the second period, I went to 8.B and had a friendly chat with my students
and asked them to write a feedback about
their experience with me and my class. Then I thanked all the students for the
love they showered on us in these thirty days. In the afternoon session we met
all the teachers and non-teaching staffs for their kind cooperation with us. At
last, we met our Headmistress, Mrs.Prathibha Kumary for the love, care and
cooperation that she offered to us in the days of school internship. HM wished
us a good teaching profession and adviced us to uphold good values in life.
